Police have charged a man after he allegedly broke into five houses and stole cars between Brassall and Coominya on Wednesday.
It will be alleged at 6:55am a man stole a Nissan Navara from a house on Holroyd Street at Brassall.
A man then drove to a farm on the Brisbane Valley Highway at Wanora where he allegedly tried to steal a Toyota Hilux. When this vehicle would not start, he left again in the Navara.
About 7:30am police spotted the Navara on the Brisbane Valley Highway at Fernvale. They activated lights and sirens but the vehicle allegedly accelerated away at speed.
The Navara was then driven to West Road at Coominya where a man was seen leaving the vehicle and allegedly stealing a Proton Jumbuck about 7:45am. The Proton was later located at Walnut Crescent at Lowood.
At about 8:00am a Holden Commodore was stolen from a house in Walnut Crescent. The vehicle was tracked by GPS and stopped at Robyn Terrace at Fernvale.
About 8:30am police went to Robyn Terrace and saw the Commodore parked in the front yard of a house.
Police parked in the driveway but the man, who was allegedly trying to break into the house, got into the Commodore and attempted to drive through the front fence, but became stuck in a garden bed.
The man got out of the vehicle and ran into nearby bushland but was arrested a short time later.
A 43-year-old Inala man has been charged with five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and burglary, two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, wilful damage and failing to stop, one count of obstructing police, possession of a dangerous drug (amphetamine), failing to dispose of a syringe and receiving tainted property.
He is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Thursday.
