There should be some very tired cyclists pedalling into Yarraman on Saturday afternoon after completing a 100km cycling challenge on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Cycling Challenge from Esk to Yarraman is being organised by the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Users Association Inc.

The aim is to complete the off-road course, which includes a detour route from Toogoolawah to Moore, within 10 hours.

Riders will leave Esk at 6:00am on Saturday.

A safety team will be shadowing the event to provide help if required and there will be mandatory checkpoints at Moore and Blackbutt where support crews can also offer assistance.

Free water will be available at three  locations and free snacks will be available at two spots on the route.

The man and woman who complete the course in the fastest time will each win a luxury weekend for two valued at $600 at the Wiikirri B & B Retreat in Blackbutt.

  • More information about the BVRT100 – and to book a spot – is available on Eventbrite
