Downer Mining and Stanwell have begun their search for the South Burnett winner of a valuable $10,000-a-year university scholarship.
The annual Meandu Mine Technical Mining Study Support Scholarship, which is jointly funded by Downer Mining and Stanwell Corporation, was created in 2016.
It offers a South Burnett university student studying to become a Mining, Geotechnical, Mineral Processing, Mechanical or Civil Engineer $10,000 per annum in financial support, along with professional development opportunities and paid vacation work.
Applicants for the scholarship will need to demonstrate:
- A strong academic record
- A strong voluntary community service ethic
- A commitment to study Mining, Geotechnical, Mineral Processing or Mechanical Engineering
- Enrolment in a relevant degree course at a tertiary institution
- Live in the South Burnett region
- Alignment with Downer’s values
- Motivation and a drive to succeed
Downer will offer:

- Rotation through various specialties to increase exposure to the business
