Revheads of all ages had fun in the sun at Nanango on Saturday at Nanango Police’s second “Take It To The Track” day.
The family fun day at South Burnett Kart Hire’s track allowed all-comers to race against police officers and other emergency services personnel.
Even very small children could join in, riding in double go-karts with an adult.
The sizzling day of action was organised by officers from Nanango police station as a road safety initiative.
As well as the fun activities, there were also more serious displays including a demonstration of an emergency extraction by firefighters and ambulance paramedics of an “injured” driver from a car wreck.
A high-tech driving simulator was also popular, with youngsters practising their road skills (there were lots of prangs!)
SES volunteers from Nanango and Kingaroy helped out on the day and kept the sausage sizzle running.
According to the Go Kart operators “literally hundreds and hundreds” of people had taken part in the racing.
The day was sponsored by the Heritage Nanango Community Branch in conjunction with South Burnett Kart Hire and Nanango Police.
