A speeding motorist who told police he was just “testing his car” after trying to fix it was fined $1177 on Sunday.
The Kingaroy Road Policing Unit pulled over the 36-year-old Kingaroy man on the Bunya Highway at Benair.
Senior Constable Jade Miller said the driver was doing 148km/h in a 100km/h zone.
As well as the fine, the man lost his licence for six months and will lose eight demerit points.

Two female drivers will face charges of drug driving after being pulled over in separate incidents on Monday.
A 32-year-old Nanango woman was intercepted by police on Drayton Street, Nanango.
She allegedly tested positive to cannabis in a roadside test and has been ordered to appear in Nanango Magistrates Court.
On the same day, the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit stopped a 41-year-old Nanango woman in Gipps Street, Nanango.
She allegedly tested positive to methamphetamine, and police also allege they located a drug utensil in her vehicle.
She was issued with a Notice to Appear in the Nanango Magistrates Court on December 21.

The Kingaroy Road Policing Unit also detected two unlicensed drivers at the weekend.
On Saturday, police pulled over a 27-year-old Townsville woman driving along Haly Street at Wondai whilst unlicensed. She was issued with a $193 fine.
On Sunday, police intercepted a 34-year-old Wondai man travelling on Haly Street, Wondai. He was issued with a Notice to Appear in the Murgon Magistrates Court on November 21.
