Kingaroy Aero Modellers Society (KAMS) members will be demonstrating their aerobatic skills – and allowing visitors to try the thrill of flying model aircraft – at their third annual open day later this month.
The event coincides with similar activities around Australia co-ordinated by the Model Aeromodellers Association of Australia to raise funds to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
KAMS president John Box said the day would be a great opportunity to introduce the next generation to the fast-growing family sport of model flight.
“For the purchase of a $5 commemorative RFDS badge there will be an opportunity to experience the adrenalin rush and thrill of model flight in a safe, controlled environment,” he said.
KAMS have their own flying field at 844 Booie-Crawford Road, Booie.
The open day will be held on Sunday, October 29. Flying will begin at 8:00am.
John said the event would be officially opened by Cr Danita Potter at 10:00am followed by morning tea. A sausage sizzle and cold drinks will be available all day.
