An elderly man has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after a collision on the D’Aguilar Highway on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at Stony Creek, west of Woodford.
An RACQ LifeFlight spokesman said the man, aged in his 70s, was driving alone in his car travelling west on the highway when he apparently lost control and veered off the road after colliding with a vehicle travelling in front of him.
His car then went down an embankment and rolled a number of times.
The man suffered injuries to his head, chest and legs.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ Rescue helicopter was called to the scene.
The man was treated by LifeFlight’s critical care doctor and a Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic after being freed from the vehicle by firefighters.
He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
