The South Burnett Regional Council has begun building a new concrete footpath along the eastern side of the Bunya Highway at Wondai.
The footpath will run from the Wondai Sportsground and soccer fields to the entrance of the Wondai Industrial Estate.
It will extend a new footpath linking the CBD to the Sportsground which was built last year.
Construction works will include excavations and the installation of box culverts.
In order to provide a safe work environment, public access to the site will be limited, however a council spokesperson said no disruption to the public was foreseen.
