Have you seen this tiny house anywhere in the South Burnett lately?

The tiny building mounted on a trailer – a prototype for a new style of tourist housing – was stolen from a business in Canberra about 8:15pm on Sunday.

However, since then it has apparently been spotted in Kingaroy on Monday evening and then in Kilkivan … a very long way from home.

The unfinished prototype has been valued at $20,000.

“It has been spotted in southern Queensland by a couple of people less than 24 hours after it was stolen from Canberra!” owner Julie Bray wrote on Facebook.

Julie said the house and trailer were stolen from outside the Smartdeck office in Kemble Court, Mitchell.

The thief or thieves are believed to have used an angle grinder to cut through the trailer’s wheel clamp.

The company has offered a $1000 reward for the safe return of the building.

UPDATE: A 24-year-old man has been charged in relation to the theft of the tiny house, which has been located at Hervey Bay.
