A Brisbane-based community handbell ensemble which is celebrating 10 years of music making will be coming to Kingaroy on Tuesday, September 26.

The Brisbane Bells are embarking on their first state tour, visiting Kingaroy, Bundaberg and Rockhampton before ending with a signature performance in the Capricorn Caves.

“We are so thrilled to be able to take our versatile instruments to regional centres in Queensland this year,” Artistic Director Samantha Cook said.

“It has been a goal of ours for a while and is a wonderful way to finish our tenth anniversary year.”

Brisbane Bells has grown from a small handful of members in 2007 to hosting three ensembles in 2017.

The September regional tour is a precursor to the International Handbell Symposium which will be held in Cairns in 2018.

The group has also performed with numerous musicians and choirs.

It is currently preparing to be a guest performer at this year’s Spirit of Christmas concert at the Queensland Performing Arts Complex.

The group is also excited to welcome local performers in each town to join them in their concerts, and they will be inviting locals to participate in hands-on workshops with the handbells and chimes.
