Police are seeking public help to identify a truck involved in a traffic incident north of Nanango on Friday evening which has left a NSW man seriously injured.
Preliminary information suggests about 6:15pm a Chrysler sedan travelling northbound on the Burnett Highway was hit by a metal object which fell from a truck heading southbound.
The incident occurred about 26km north of Nanango.
The object went through the car windscreen and struck the 48-year-old male driver in the head, causing a serious injury.
The 46-year-old male passenger of the car drove the injured man to Goomeri to seek help.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to Murgon and then Kingaroy Hospital before being airlifted to Brisbane in a stable condition.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the crash occur, or the driver of a flatbed truck with a New Holland round baler and hay raker on the back which travelled through the area at the time.
It is possible the driver may not know they were involved in an incident.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Anyone with information should contact Policelink on 13-14-44 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.
