A funeral service was held at Virgos Chapel in Kingaroy on Friday for former Wondai Shire councillor Merv Sokoll who died recently aged 84.
Merv served on the former Wondai Council from April 12, 1979, to March 13, 1997.
As a young man, Merv was active in the Junior Farmers movement, and was South Burnett Zone Council chairman.
He later retired to Hervey Bay.
Merv was married twice, but both wives pre-deceased him.
He is survived by his four children as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
