Kingaroy detectives and forensic officers have returned to the scene of an alleged home invasion during which a shot was fired at Pimpimbudgee on Sunday afternoon.

A police spokesman said preliminary investigations suggested that about 3:30pm two men – one armed with a firearm – entered a house on Trapp Road, which skirts the Yarraman State Forest.

The men demanded money from two male occupants at the home, taking their wallets before firing a shot into a cupboard and assaulting them.

The two occupants managed to flee the house and contacted emergency services.

A 65-year-old Yarraman man and a 47-year-old Pimpimbudgee man were transported to Kingaroy Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening head injuries.

A crime scene has been declared at the house.
