Well-known country music singer Neil Duddy – a fixture on the South Burnett club scene for years – appeared in Ipswich District Court on Friday to face one count of indecent treatment of a child under the age of 16.

Duddy, 51, pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court was told Duddy had known the boy and his mother for about seven years.

Duddy had added the boy, now 12, on Facebook and they would talk to each other via webcam.

The charge related to an incident where Duddy admitted exposing himself to the boy while chatting on the webcam.

Judge Horneman-Wren sentenced Duddy to nine months’ jail, suspended for two years.

The judge noted that Duddy had no prior criminal history.
