Nanango Police are looking for two thieves who stole a security camera from outside a local business in the early hours of last Sunday.
The two used tools to remove the camera from outside Cook’s Bakery in Drayton Street.
A CCTV video posted by Cook’s Bakery on social media has been seen 5500 times.
The video shows two youths or young men wearing hoodies walking up to the business.
After a quick peek inside, they approach the running CCTV camera.
Sparks, presumably from an angle grinder or similar tool, can be seen on the video before it swings around giddily and goes blank.
Commenters noted that if the thieves took the security camera, they may well be planning to come back at a later time to break into the store.
Owner Michelle Smith posted the following information with the video:
“Thank you for the lovely consideration of these two who have decided their needs were far greater to steal than to earn enough money to purchase their own. But hey! I know that times are tough and money is tight and sometimes you make bad and rash decisions.
“Now, you two have a choice. Return the property that doesn’t belong to you and charges won’t be pressed as the police do have names and footage from more than one place.
“If anyone has any other information also we would greatly appreciate it, especially if these cowards don’t own up to it.”
The incident occurred about 1:15am on Sunday.
Anyone with information should call Nanango Police on (07) 4171-6333 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800-333-000.
