A 12-year-old boy was airlifted from Cherbourg Hospital on Thursday afternoon with head injuries after he was allegedly struck by a tomahawk.

An RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the boy was hit on the head, causing a suspected eye injury and head wound.

It is unknown how the incident occurred.

The RACQ LifeFlight’s Toowoomba-based helicopter  airlifted the boy to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane about 3:45pm.

He travelled in a stable condition.
