The South Burnett will have a strong presence again this year at Brisbane’s premier free food festival, Regional Flavours.

The festival runs on July 15-16 at South Bank Parklands.

The best Queensland produce will be brought to life by some of Australia’s top cooks and chefs, including Kingaroy chef and TAFE teacher Jason Ford, in the two-day extravaganza of food, wine and craft beer.

“I’m proud to represent the South Burnett and excited to promote the thriving avocado industry in our region,”  Jason said.

He will be presenting Bravocado! on stage on Saturday at 11:00am.

“Avocados are not just for hipsters to spread on their toast, these incredible savoury fruits can be part of a sophisticated lunch or dinner dish and I will be demonstrating how to achieve this on stage in Brisbane,” Jason said.

Event goers will also be able to sample a little of what the South Burnett avocado industry is famous for, thanks to Barry and Michelle Trousdell from Mt Binga Orchards.

Jason will also make an appearance on the main stage at the Piazza alongside Gary Mehigan, from MasterChef, and Miguel Maestre, from The Living Room, to spruik local South Burnett produce and the region as a travel destination.

The South Burnett will also have a strong presence amongst the stalls: Clovely Estate, Crane Wines, Kingsley Grove Estate, Bunya Red Farm, Taste South Burnett, The Peanut Van and Chinchilli will all have stalls.

A newcomer for 2017 will be Edenvale Milling Canary Meal.

The South Burnett will also have a pop-up food stall selling pork belly wraps and Bunya Nut Fudge.

Jason said for the third year in a row he would be making his signature Sticky South Burnett Pork Belly wraps.

“We made 800 last year and sold out,” he said.
