Downer’s Meandu Mine employees have marked their success in the company’s Health, Safety and Environment awards by making donations to four local charities.

The company won prizes for

  • Best Overall Health and Safety Performance
  • Best Safety Innovation
  • Best Environmental Innovation, and
  • Sustainability

Winning mines have the opportunity of donating their prizes to a community organisation of their choice.

The Meandu Mine team selected:

  • South Burnett Community Private Hospital Foundation, the fund-raising body supporting the Lady Bjelke-Petersen Community Hospital in Kingaroy
  • Red Earth Community Foundation South Burnett, organisers of the South Burnett Leadership Program
  • South Burnett Pantry in Kingaroy, and
  • Yarraman P-9 State School

Each received a donation of $5000 from the company.
