Building the long term resilience of the South Burnett through philanthropy and investing in local people will be key topics at the second annual Red Earth Community Foundation dinner.
The Foundation’s board and South Burnett Community Leadership Program alumni will host the “Growing Our Community” dinner and discussion on Wednesday, July 19 at Booie’s Cassis Restaurant.
“Red Earth Community Foundation (RECF) is a vehicle for philanthropy and future planning,” Foundation chairperson Georgie Somerset said.
“It allows our community to support home-grown initiatives.
“The Foundation focuses on local projects, local people and local ideas with a view to develop the community’s capacity for independence and self reliance.”
Tickets will include a roaming two course tapas style dinner and an opportunity to network. The cocktail style event will also raise funds for the Foundation.
“This event will allow us to share our progress to date and gain feedback about how we could empower initiatives for our region’s future,” Georgie said.
RECF was born shortly after the 2011 floods.
“Since then, the Foundation has delivered the South Burnett Community Leadership Program for four years, with over 90 people in the alumni and strong interest in next year’s program already,” Georgie said.
“RECF enables our region to support young people, respond to challenges, and encourage creativity, entrepreneurship and leadership in a way that supports our future.
“Our Community Dinner and Discussion will allow others to share what RECF means for them, those closest to them, their business and the region.”
The dinner will be held at 5:30pm (for a 6:00pm start) and tickets can be booked online through Eventbrite.
