Police have declared an emergency situation in Toogoolawah with a man holed up in house.
About 9:15am on Friday police attended an address in Bellambi Street, Toogoolawah, to speak to a man.
This followed an alleged attempted armed carjacking in Toogoolawah earlier in the day.
The Public Safety Preservation Act declaration was made a short time later .
Police have established an exclusion zone 500m around the dwelling and cordons at the intersections of Gunyah, Bellambi and Drem streets.
Police believe the man may be armed. Negotiators are on scene.
Local residents have been urged to avoid the area where possible.
UPDATE 4:30pm: A man has been taken into custody following the incident in Toogoolawah. He was later charged with attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstructing police, failing to dispose of needle, and possessing explosives without authority
