Kingaroy chef Jason Ford has been a fixture at Regional Flavours in Brisbane for several years but this time he’ll be an official South Burnett “ambassador”.
Jason was named the South Burnett’s “Food Ambassador” and presented with a certificate of appreciation in a ceremony at TAFE Qld South West in Kingaroy on Thursday.
South Burnett Mayor Keith Campbell said there was none better than Jason to be a Regional Food Ambassador.
Jason has been a regular on stage for years at the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, the Blackbutt Avocado Festival (Bloomin’ Beautiful) and many other South Burnett events.
In Brisbane, he has been a regular on the Queensland Taste Stage at Regional Flavours.
Regional Flavours is a major food and wine festival held in Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands. It showcases the State’s best food producers and includes market stalls, live entertainment and cooking demonstrations.
This year’s Regional Flavours will be held on July 15-16.
Jason said that for the third year in a row he would be making Sticky South Burnett Pork Belly Wraps for sale at Regional Flavours.
“We made 800 last year and sold out,” he said.
Guests at the Food Ambassador launch enjoyed samples of the pork belly wraps as a treat for lunch.
Jason will be accompanied in Brisbane by representatives from a number of South Burnett food producers, creating a South Burnett promotional “hub” in the parklands.
