Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has again called for more road funding to be spent on a section of the New England Highway between Cooyar and Crows Nest.

This follows a single-vehicle on Sunday morning which blocked the highway for several hours.

Two people were injured when a 4WD pulling a caravan overturned and spread debris across the road near Pinelands about 7:45am.

The LifeFlight Surat Basin Aeromedical Service helicopter – which usually services the gas fields – landed on the highway to transport an elderly woman to Toowoomba Hospital with suspected internal injuries.

She travelled in a stable condition.

A man in the vehicle was taken by road ambulance to the same hospital for assessment.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and flight paramedic assisted both Queensland Ambulance Service and the Queensland Fire Service at the scene of the crash.
