Kingaroy bowlers will be feeling a little bit safer following a generous donation by Kingaroy Rotary.

On Thursday, Rotary Club president Wayne Bushell presented Kingaroy Bowls Club chairman Geoff Clutterbuck with a portable defibrillator and a special alarmed storage box which can be mounted on a wall at the club.

The defibrillator delivers a small electric shock which could help save the life of someone who has suffered a heart attack.

The items, worth about $3000, are part of a program by Kingaroy Rotary to get more defibrillators out into the community.

The machine at the Bowls Club is the ninth the club has so far given away.

The next two defibrillators are scheduled to be presented to the Kingaroy Library, and then the South Burnett Show Society.
