Former Kingaroy Red Ant Chris McQueen, who will be heading to Wests Tigers at the end of this NRL season, looks set to disappoint his Queensland fans with his decision to play for England this weekend.

McQueen, whose father was born in England, has been named as a replacement in the England rugby league squad which will play Samoa in a friendly on Saturday in Sydney.

McQueen has played six State of Origin games for Queensland.

The decision will make him ineligible for selection for any more representative duties by the Maroons.

The England team, coached by Wayne Bennett, also feature’s McQueen’s former South Sydney team-mates Sam and Tom Burgess.

McQueen is currently with the Gold Coast Titans, but signed with Wests Tigers earlier this year in a $1.2 million three-year deal.

Another former Red Ant will be in action this weekend, making his debut for the North Queensland Cowboys’ National Youth Cup side against the Gold Coast Titans.

Logan Bayliss-Brow will be on the interchange bench for the game which will be played at the Ned Byrne Field at Cudgen, in northern NSW.

Bayliss-Brow played last season with Burnett White in the Toowoomba Rugby League U18s competition and joined the Cowboys’ development squad at the end of the year.
