UPDATE March 16: River levels are easing in the Boyne and Auburn Rivers. River levels have fallen below the minor flood level at Dunollie on the Boyne River. The Boyne River is currently at 2.10m and steady. The river level is expected to ease during Thursday evening and into Friday.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a minor flood warning for the Boyne River at Dunollie, north-west of Proston.

The warning was issued at at 2:00pm EST on Wednesday.

According to the Bureau, localised minor flooding is occurring along the Boyne River between Dunollie (or “Dunolly”) and Cooranga.

Areas of very heavy rainfall occurred locally on Tuesday night.

Up to 90mm falls were recorded across parts of the Stuart and Boyne Rivers and Barker Creek catchments.

BOM warned that further heavy rainfall with thunderstorms were possible across the Burnett River basin during the next few days.

The Boyne River at Dunollie is currently at 4.60 metres and falling. It is expected to fall below the minor flood level (2.50 m) by early Wednesday evening.
