Supermarket developer Breezeway Pty Ltd has taken possession of the Blackbutt Memorial Hall site, the first step towards Blackbutt residents getting their long-awaited supermarket.
A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said on Wednesday that Breezeway had satisfied all contractual requirements to begin the process of moving the Blackbutt Hall.
Breezeway has also been given access to the site, adjacent to the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, where the Hall will be relocated.
The spokesperson said the developer had established on-site fencing in Coulson Street and begun preparations for the hall move.
A public meeting held in Blackbutt last month was told by local councillor Spud Jones should be shifted to its new location and completed by July 1, and the new supermarket open for trading on December 1.
