The Queensland Renewable Fuels Association (QRFA) has announced it will partner with Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise to help drive the growth of biofuels industries in the region.

QRFA Managing Director Larissa Rose said she is confident the collaboration will play a significant role in the development of a long-lasting renewable fuels industry for Queensland.

“Partnerships with organisations like TSBE are a critical aspect of connecting local and regional business with the expanding biofuels industry,” Ms Rose said.

“TSBE shares our principal focus – a commitment to sustainable growth – and compliments the business-driven focus of our organisation.

“A robust renewable fuels industry will facilitate many positive outcomes for the region, creating value through not only employment but the associated agricultural, economic and environmental benefits.”

QRFA hopes the partnership mark an important step in the development of prosperous biofuels operations in the greater Toowoomba region.

Executive Chairman of TSBE, Shane Charles, said the region was in a strong position to take advantage of the emerging opportunities for biofuels in the energy and agriculture space.

“Whilst renewable fuels have been spoken about for a long time, the mandate makes some of the opportunities more real and visible,” he said.

“TSBE has a primary focus on educating the business community in the region on the future opportunity that is set to emerge from this mandate.

“The Western Downs especially will be looking to growth in this industry, with the advantage of a bio-refinery in Dalby.

“TSBE has a growing membership base in the renewable sector and we are working to educate and bring businesses that can benefit from the growth along for the ride.”

Ms Rose said the partnership would promote future investment to ensure the region continued to thrive moving forward.
