December 15, 2016
The Grand Finals of Kingaroy Touch Association’s 2016 Season 2 were played at T.J. O’Neill Oval recently.
A good crowd turned up at the start of the month to cheer on the players, who were quickly raising a sweat on a warm Kingaroy night.
There was an upset in the Open Grand Final when Gumps, who have dominated all season, were defeated.
Cherbourg were strong in the Mixed Grand Final, and their loyal supporters – as always – decorated the fence with orange and black streamers and balloons.
Wild Hogs, sponsored, of course, by Swickers, easily won the B Grand Final.

Open Grand Final
Gumps were undefeated throughout the season, but went into the Open Grand Final short of players.
But they were no pushover, especially in the first half.
At half-time, Mighty Ducks led 3-1, but this had blown out to 10-3 at full-time.
After the match, Jared Sippel (Mighty Ducks) was presented with the trophy for Player of the Match.
Other trophies were for Adam Geiger (Open Player of the Season), Taylah Curley (Mixed A Female Player of the Season) and Bernard Hopkins (Mixed A Male Player of the Season).

Mixed Grand Final
The Mixed Grand Final and the B Grand Final were played on Fields 1 and 2 simultaneously.
In the Mixed, both teams had vocal support from spectators but in the end, Cherbourg proved too strong for Integral.
The final score was Cherbourg 11, Integral 5.
Player of the Final was awarded to John Bunyoung (Integral).
