Toowoomba Regional Council will receive $300,000 to develop a Floodplain Risk Management Plan for six towns identified as being at high risk of flooding.

These towns are Cooyar, Yarraman, Jondaryan, Crows Nest, Maclagan and Quinalow.

The assistance is part of a national partnership agreement on natural disaster resilience jointly funded by the Federal and State governments.

Applications are open to all councils as well as not-for-profit organisations, with a new streamlined application process.

Deputy Premier Jackie Trad said the new approach had reduced the administrative burden and ensured a shorter turnaround between submitting expressions of interest to being granted approval.
