This year’s “Dinner With The Captains” raised an incredible $51,871.24 for Relay For Life.
The dinner, held in a packed Kingaroy Town Hall in July, featured short talks by rugby league great Wally Lewis, former Olympic hockey captain Nikki Hudson, and former Test cricketer Ian Chappell.
Guests also enjoyed a three-course meal and multi-prize raffle, and bid on a range of sporting memorabilia in a live auction.
The dinner’s major sponsor was the Meandu Mine (Stanwell and Downer), and organiser Carl Rackemann made sure last week that their contribution was not overlooked.
Carl presented representatives from the companies with a framed photograph of their staff members with the three guest speakers.
Overall, the 2016 Kingaroy / South Burnett Relay For Life has so far raised an incredible $175,468.61, more than $55,000 above the goal.
