St Patrick’s library in Nanango was full to overflowing on Sunday as the region’s camera club members and visitors gathered to view the judging of the annual Cliff Krebbs Interclub Print Competition.

The Krebbs is the counterpart of the annual South Burnett Digital Interclub competition, which aims to find the best digital photos produced in the region over the previous 12 months.

The Digital Interclub is held in August, and the Krebbs Interclub – which aims to find the best photographic prints – follows three months afterwards.

This year’s competition was waged between the Murgon, Kingaroy, Nanango and Blackbutt camera clubs and it was a closely fought affair.

Three judges from Toowoomba – Gerard Saide, Graham Burstow and John Stewart poured over 120 images, before finally giving this year’s Champion Club award to Blackbutt.

It was the second year in a row that Blackbutt has taken out the Krebbs.

“The standard of the photos was top class,” judge Graham Burstow said.

“There was not one bad image in the competition.

“When the judging is difficult we know the standard is very high.”

The proof of that was that several categories in this year’s competition had multiple winners, and one category – humour – had five.

This year – in a new development – the winning images have been turned into a mini-exhibition that will tour the South Burnett so the general public can get to enjoy them too.

The images are currently on display at Ringsfield House at 45 Alfred Street, Nanango until mid-December.

They will then be shown at the Nanango Visitor Information Centre before moving on to Kingaroy, Murgon and Blackbutt.
