One section of the badly damaged building … the roof has collapsed

November 14, 2016

An old-style timber home in the Haly Creek / Goodger area was destroyed by fire on Sunday evening.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said no one was at home when the fire broke out.

Police, ambulance and 12 fire crews – including both urban and rural brigades – were called to the blaze, near the corner of Stuart Valley Drive and Neale Road, about 7:00pm.

A QFES spokesperson said the home was engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived.

The fire was contained by 8:30pm.

Firefighters then remained on site for several hours monitoring hotspots and dampening down.

They returned on Monday to again dampen down any hotspots.

Snr Sgt Frank said the cause of the fire was not suspicious.
