Proston isn’t the busiest bowls club in the district, but it always gets a little bit busier at this time of year.

So here’s two for the diary many long-time friends of the club will likely enjoy.

The first is Proston President’s Day which will be held on Sunday, October 16 from 8:30am to around 3:00pm.

Players from all over the region are invited to put a team together and join this popular event, which includes lunch and dessert in the team fee (lunch is also available to buy for spectators).

You can get more information and lodge team bookings by phoning Jan on 0428-681-840 or Ian on 0418-132-844.

Yarraman News

With warmer weather across the region, carnivals are everywhere – and Yarraman Bowls Club’s two-day Rosalie Fours on December 3-4 is another event many bowlers will also want to pencil in their diaries.

Saturday, December 3 will see three games of open fours over 17 ends or the bell at 2 hours 20 minutes, with a 9:00am start.

The following day there’ll be two more games of open fours, again over 17 ends or the bell at 140minutes with another 9:00am start.

Conditions of play on both days will be one point for an end and six for a win. Dead ends will be replayed and wins do not count. And in the event of any draws, a countback will determine the win.

Green fees for the entire weekend are $60 per player and include morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, with a BBQ on Saturday evening and a breakfast on Sunday thrown in (non-bowlers can pay $10 each for meals).

The top team on the weekend will walk away with a $600 first prize, the runners-up will receive $400, and the next three best teams $200 each.

There’ll also be a $100 prize to the winner of each round, decided by the highest score.

You can get more details and nominate your team by phoning Games Director John Moore on (07) 4692-6273 or the club on (07) 4163-8269.

But get in quick – only the first 16 teams will be accepted.
