A Snapchat “selfie” has been blamed for a single-vehicle crash on the Bunya Highway near Kumbia on Monday morning.

A 24-year-old Maryborough woman, heading towards Dalby, lost control of her Holden Rodeo utility about 6:30am.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the driver over-corrected after the vehicle hit gravel on the side of the road.

The vehicle then crossed the highway and rolled several times before coming to rest in a paddock.

“The driver was using a phone at the time, taking a Snapchat selfie,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

“Police found the mobile phone in the vehicle.”

The woman was taken to Kingaroy Hospital for treatment for a head injury which required stitches.

“She was very lucky. This should have been a fatality,” Snr Sgt Frank said.
