Three football teams from the South Burnett are in Inverell this week taking part in the World Cup … the Joeys Mini World Cup, that is.
An Open South Burnett women’s team is competing in the carnival as “France”, an U11 Barambah side is “England”, and an U17 Kingaroy team is playing as “Portugal”.
Games started on Monday, with the South Burnett sides making a strong start.
Day 1 Results:
- U11s – England (Barambah) defeated Portugal (Toowoomba B) 2-1, and then Australia (Inverell) 3-1.
- U17s – Portugal (Kingaroy) defeated Germany (Inverell) 3-1, then drew 1-all with Spain (Lismore).
- Women’s – France (South Burnett) defeated England (North Coast) 2-1; while going down 7-1 to Italy (Grafton).
On Tuesday:
- U11s – England (Barambah) v Brazil (Inverell A), and v France (Toowoomba A)
- U17s – Portugal (Kingaroy) v Italy (Brisbane), v Uruguay (Toowoomba B), and v Sweden (Morriset)
- Women’s – France (South Burnett) v New Zealand, v Holland (Inverell), and v Portugal (Armidale)
On Wednesday:
- U11s – England (Barambah) v Germany (Inverell B)
- U17s – Portugal (Kingaroy) v Australia (Hervey Bay), v Brazil (Inverell), and v Spain (Lismore)
- Women’s – France (South Burnett) v Brazil (Inverell), v Germany, v Uruguay (Toowoomba A). v Australia (Toowoomba B)
