The Kingaroy Art Gallery will be featuring a retrospective in September of works by one of the South Burnett’s most respected artists.

William David Bryce was born on September 8, 1916, and died on August 23, 2000.

His works are included in many local private collections, as well in the South Burnett Regional Council’s acquisitive collection.

The Kingaroy Arts Team has gathered together more than 150 paintings, ceramics and wood carvings by David from both public and private collections to put the retrospective together.

The exhibition will be on view at the Gallery from September 3 to October 5.

Renowned Australian architect and industrial designer Michael Bryce AM AE, husband of former Governor-General Dame Quentin Bryce and a cousin of the artist, will officially open the exhibition on Thursday, September 8 – what would have been David’s 100th birthday – at 2:00pm.

Michael Bryce is also a past trustee of the Queensland Art Gallery and a great-great-grandson of colonial Sydney artist William Duke.
