South Burnett vintage machinery enthusiasts have been invited to take a trip to Bowenville this weekend.

The Downs Vintage Machinery Club will be staging their fifth annual Plough In Field Day on Saturday, August 20, at John and Jeanette Kummerow’s “Quarrianne” property at 1216 Jondaryan-St Ruth Road, Bowenville.

This year’s Field Day will feature some rare and interesting tractors including a Marshall MP6 tractor, one of only three known in Queensland.

Also on display will be a LeRoi Compressor tractor, a Coop 30 and other tractors seldom seen in local collections.

Up to a dozen drivers at a time will spread out across a long paddock pulling a variety of implements including mouldboard ploughs, Sundercuts, scarifiers and combines.

As well as ploughing, there will be novelty tractor events, a display of stationary engines, vintage cars and model planes.

Anyone interested in old farming machinery is guaranteed an informative and entertaining day which will provide plenty of opportunity for catching up with fellow enthusiasts.

The event will kick off at 9:00am with a safety briefing.

The public is welcome and entry is by gold coin.

“The facilities are top class and refreshments will be available throughout the day,” club president David Cleary said.
