People who would like to apply for one of eight apprenticeship and traineeship positions Stanwell Corporation are offering in 2017 have an extra week to apply.

On Friday, Stanwell announced it was extending the date for receipt of applications from this Sunday, August 14, to next Sunday, August 21.

The company gave no reason for the extension of the closing date.

Stanwell is offering three first-year electrical apprenticeships; three first-year mechanical fitter apprenticeships; and two first-year business administration traineeships next year.

On-the-job training will be undertaken at the Tarong Power Stations.

However, rotation to other host employers may be required to ensure all competencies are gained by the successful applicants.

Working conditions include a 36.25 hour working week (based on a nine day fortnight), transport to and from the station and provision of protective clothing.

Candidates must be living in the South Burnett and completing year 12, or have completed year 12 in the past two years.

Applications will be processed by group training organisation MRAEL Ltd.

More details about the positions can be obtained by phoning MRAEL on (07) 4128-5644.
