Police are reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to catch the people responsible for a string of recent break-ins – and the arson of two motor vehicles – in Nanango.
Sgt Jason Newton, from Nanango Police, said that late on Wednesday night a car was stolen from a private residence in Nanango.
That car is then believed to have been used during break-ins at two petrol stations.
It was later found burned out on the Nanango-Brooklands Road.
On Saturday night, the scenario was repeated … a vehicle was stolen from a private house and break-ins occurred at a business in King Street, Nanango, and at a petrol station – one of the same businesses previously robbed.
This time the stolen car was found burned out on Sunday morning on the D’Aguilar Highway at South Nanango.
Sgt Newton said police believed the same offenders were responsible for both sets of incidents.
He said detectives from Kingaroy CIB had joined Nanango police to track down those responsible.
Items stolen included tobacco products, cash and electrical items.
Sgt Newton said it was very important for residents to keep their houses locked, even if they were at home.
He said both homes where the vehicles had been stolen were unlocked.
“It’s a very simple thing to keep your house locked, even when you’re inside,” he said.
