The past two weeks have seen Wondai indoor bowls players dealing with a busy schedule.

Members have been travelling to Caloundra and Toowoomba to compete in major tournaments, as well as completing the annual Round Robin Pairs.

Club president Vince Lakin reached the semi-final of the Caloundra singles, going down to local player David Staker.

Faye Holding also played well, reaching the final of the consolation singles before bowing out to Caloundra’s Carmel Blyth.

Two teams also journeyed to Toowoomba last weekend to take part in the Darling Downs five game tournament.

Toowoomba – along with Caloundra – are two of the largest indoor bowls associations in Queensland.

On the home front, the third and final round of the robin pairs on Tuesday night saw Daphne Ladlow and Keith Kratzmann emerge overall winners with a combined aggregate score of 124.

Runners-up were Beth Weier and Margaret Stevenson on 118, while Val Klein and Lorraine Rook finished third with 116.

Other scores were:

  • Clive Weier and Des Pearce – 116
  • Faye Holding and Mary Mills – 102
  • Vince Lakin and Len Pick – 101
  • Maryanne Pearce and Jim Rook – 98
  • Sylvia Hiltenin and Don Moore 93
