St Mary’s Catholic College student Harry Bredhauer received a text while he was at school last week … from his mum Amanda.
It said “Congratulations. You’re captain of the Queensland junior development polocrosse squad”.
It was a huge surprise for the Year 10 student who hadn’t been expecting this at all.
Now he’ll be off to Cubbaroo, near Wee Waa, next month to lead the Queensland team in a series of carnivals against teams from NSW, Western Australia and the United States.
Harry has been competing in polocrosse for about four years, usually on his horse “Melody”.
He is supposed to train every day but admits that schoolwork often gets in the way.
The Queensland junior development team won’t have a chance to practise together before heading to NSW as they are spread all over the State, but that doesn’t worry Harry.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
