Country music legend Chad Morgan will be appearing in concert at Blackbutt on Saturday night regardless of the weather

A Queensland Week Family Fun Day being held in Blackbutt on Saturday will go ahead regardless of the weather.

Organisers said on Friday it seemed unlikely the South Burnett will experience the extreme weather conditions forecast for the coast.

But if any rain does fall in the timber towns, they have wet weather plans to cover any contingency and plan to hold gumboot throwing competitions to celebrate.

The day, which is being held at the Blackbutt Showgrounds at the end of Hart Street to mark Queensland Week, will feature four different events.

Activities will kick off at 8:00am with a free community breakfast accompanied by music from local duo Ausphonic.

This will be followed until noon with a Giant Car Boot Sale in the grounds which will include free entertainment for children and music by the Taromeo Country Music Club.

Organisers said car boot sale visitors can expect to find lots of bargains and some quirky amusements, including a trailer load of genuine antiques and Zachary The One-Eyed Wonder Dog,

After the car boot sale winds down, Indigenous artist Glennys Briggs will be holding a two-hour art workshop at Nukku Nook near the Showgrounds’ entrance between noon and 2:00pm.

And at 6:00pm on Saturday night, she’ll be appearing at the Showgrounds in concert with country music legend Chad Morgan as part of “The Muirs”.

Tickets to the evening concert are $10, and there’ll be a licensed bar and food on site.
