Round 2 of the annual Warman Woodrow Shield was played at Woodford on Saturday, May 21.

And it turned out to be a very close run thing.

After the first round, Woodford went into the competition with a narrow lead over Kilcoy.

But the Kilcoy team were hopeful a form reversal would see them return the shield to their clubhouse.

However the Woodford club hung on, notching up another narrow win to retain the Warman Woodrow again this year.

The final score was 273 points for Woodford against Kilcoy’s 265.

Winning teams on the day for each club were:

  • Woodford: Nev Hanna, Darryl Holder and Shirley Riddle
  • Kilcoy: Tony Gray, Noel Lanes and Liz Frawley

Jenny Edwards, Trudi Pratt, Elayne Moat and Liz Frawley attended Bongaree May Time Fours on Friday, May 20 and had a narrow win in both games played.

Their low margin in the second game gave them the Second Round prize for the closest winning margin.

Yarraman News

Yarraman Bowls Club are counting down the days to Thursday, June 9.

This is the day the club will be kicking off the first match in their new Yarrabutt Lawns Bowls Challenge, and names will need to be in by 10:00am for a 10:30am start.

The Yarrabutt will be waged between bowlers from the Blackbutt district and fellow bowlers from the Yarraman district.

It will take the form of an 18 end match with scoring 2 points for an end and 5 for the win, and no dead ends permitted – the jack gets respotted.

The Yarrabutt will be held on the second Thursday of each month for the remainder of the year, and all points will be accumulated for a Christmas event.

This is a mixed gender day, but players must be in a team closest to their home.

However a random draw out of a hat before each round means players will be allocated to a home team and player position that may well vary from one round to the next.

Morning tea, coffee and biscuits will be supplied, but contestants are asked to bring along a plate for a shared lunch.

This promises to be a very entertaining competition, and you can find out more by phoning Wayne on 0414-594-480, Robyn on 0421-097-944 or Nev on (07) 4170-0880.
