It’s going to be a big day next Wednesday (May 25) for some of the South Burnett’s younger residents.

Next Wednesday is not only “National Simultaneous Storytime”, it’s also the day chosen to celebrate Under 8s Week in Kingaroy’s Memorial Park.

All South Burnett libraries are getting ready to take part in National Simultaneous Storytime, which will be held from 11:00am.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual campaign that aims to promote the value of reading using Australian children’s books.

This year’s story is “I Got This Hat” by Jol and Kate Temple.

Nanango Library has two groups of children booked in, while Kingaroy Library will be taking over the Glendon Street Forecourt with about 70 children.

All child care centres, Family Day Care services, kindergartens and primary schools have also been invited to take part in Under 8s Day at Kingaroy’s Memorial Park.

A morning of fun has been planned from 9:00am to 12:30pm.

There will be children’s music, craft, stories, face painting, bubbles and much more.

Bush Kids, Child Safety, CTC Family and Child Connect, Downtown Community Health and the Kingaroy Library will all be in attendance.

Families and children have been to bring a hat, morning tea, rug and chair to the park and join in the activities.

National Simultaneous Storytime will take place at 11:00am.
