SBRC Economic Development Manager Phil Harding, South Burnett Directions committee member Graham Archdall and SBRC Economic Development Officer Sharyn Garrett … ready to roll out new sales promotion opportunities for South Burnett small businesses

May 9, 2016

South Burnett businesses will be able to get a sneak preview of an exciting new “Shop Local” campaign soon … providing they’re willing to get up early.

South Burnett Directions will be hosting a series of business breakfasts next week in Wondai, Murgon, Blackbutt, Nanango and Kingaroy.

The breakfasts will celebrate Small Business Week as well as preview two new sales promotions for local businesses that South Burnett Directions plan to roll out later this year.

One of these, a “Shop Local” campaign the group plan to run from September to February, will make use of mobile phone technology to track shoppers and reward them for buying from participating local businesses.

South Burnett Directions believe the promotion will not interfere with existing sales promotions run in Murgon, Wondai and Nanango over the festive season, and can instead be added to them.

A second program aims to improve visitor experiences in local businesses.

It will be modelled on a very successful “Tourism Ambassador” program run in Wondai in December 2013.

The breakfasts will be held from 6:30am to 8:30am at the following locations:

  • Monday, May 16 – Wondai Regional Art Gallery
  • Tuesday, May 17 – Royal Hotel, Murgon
  • Wednesday, May 18 – Bunya Nut Cafe, Blackbutt
  • Thursday, May 19 – Nanango RSL
  • Friday, May 20 – Motel Oasis, Kingaroy

All breakfasts cost $15 per head, and for catering purposes an RSVP is essential.

They can be made by phoning Sharyn Garrett at South Burnett Directions on (07) 4189-9173 or by emailing her.
