Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is urging South Burnett producers to take part in a forum in Kingaroy next week to discuss the State Government’s new Vegetation Management laws.

Mrs Frecklington, the Shadow Agriculture Minister, says the changes will affect farmers’ ability to manage their land.

She will host the forum alongside Shadow Natural Resources Minister Andrew Cripps.

“The Forum will discuss the proposed changes to the Vegetation Management Laws and what they could mean for local farmers,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“These changes have the potential to remove property rights, reduce the productivity of the agriculture sector and threaten jobs in the region.”

The Kingaroy forum will be held at the Kingaroy Town Common Hall, in Oliver Bond Street, from 9:00am-10:30am on Thursday, May 5.

Producers are asked to RSVP to the Nanango Electorate Office on (07) 4190-7100 or by email

Similar forums will also be held in Gympie on Wednesday, May 4, from 10:00-11:30am at the Gympie Civic Centre; and in Toogoolawah on May 4, from 3:00pm-4:30pm at the Alexandra Hall.
