Police are disappointed that the first vehicle stopped during a joint operation by Kumbia Police and the Kingaroy Road Policing Unit on Friday night has led to a man facing a charge.

Officer-in-charge of Kumbia Police, Senior Constable Adam Entwistle, said a 33-year-old Ellesmere man failed a roadside drug test at 8:30pm.

“He was conveyed to the Kingaroy Hospital for a blood test and issued with a notice to appear for drug driving,” Senior Constable Entwistle said.

“The Kumbia community is not immune to the scourge of drugs.

“Everyone has to take responsibility and make the right choice if they have taken illicit drugs or have been drinking not to drive.

“And with the added ability now to do roadside drug testing there is little chance of not being detected.”

Senior Constable Entwistle said that on Saturday evening, a 28-year-old Bundaberg man was issued with a notice to appear in court for drink driving after allegedly testing positive with a BAC of 0.05.

He was travelling from Chinchilla to Bundaberg when he was intercepted.
