The State Government has boosted its annual funding for rural financial counsellors by $75,000.

Agriculture Minister Leanne Donaldson said the Rural Financial Counselling Service provided free financial analysis, information and support for farmers and other agricultural businesses.

The RCFS is a Federal Government program but it has been financially supported by the State Government since 2004.

In Kingaroy, a Rural Financial Counsellor is based at the Kingaroy Research Station, opposite Kingaroy Airport.

The service currently employs 14 counsellors  from Innisfail to Charleville.

“Given the protracted nature of the drought, the Palaszczuk Government is increasing its contribution from $250,000 to $325,000 a year,” Ms Donaldson said.
