Maidenwell Hotel publican Gavin Jones has been declared as the new Councillor for Division 2.
Mr Jones took the seat with 32.51 per cent of the primary vote against rival Wayne Browning (24.69 per cent).
Emeric Charles ran third (18.08 per cent), narrowly defeating former ALP candidate for the State seat of Nanango Liz Hollens-Riley (17.49 per cent), followed by David Kinson (7.23 per cent).
On Saturday, Mr Jones was at Stags Oval cheering the Nanango Stags on to a 40-26 win over the Kingaroy Red Ants.
Mr Jones is coaching the Stags A Grade team this year.
He is also the president of the Maidenwell Community Group, which last year implemented a number of major improvements to the Maidenwell Sports Ground.
