Yarraman residents will have the opportunity to meet some of their Council Election candidates at the local markets on Saturday morning.
Former police whistleblower Peter Pyke, who is one of 36 candidates standing at the Toowoomba Regional Council election, is organising what he has called an “old-fashioned flat-bed truck meeting”.
He told southburnett.com.au he had invited a group of candidates that he called the “Change Team”.
“Initially we hoped to get a number of us elected with at least three experienced councillors,” he said.
“As a result of the wave of discontent we are tapping into, we have been persuaded by voters to go for a clean sweep. All out! A new team.”
Mr Pyke said the candidates who had been invited to accompany him were Jim McEvoy, who is standing for mayor; Murray Choat, Dianne Warr, Ben Apsey, Tony Lake, Garry Humphries, Robin Grundon, Voelcker Sapolu and Craig Commens.
He said he would be at the Yarraman Markets from 7:00am.
